Why can’t I just compost at home?

We have been there and done that. It is certainly possible, but it does take time and understanding of the optimal ratios of “brown” and “green” organics. Plus you may run into odor, animal and bug issues.

What if I use one of those plug in composters?

We have tried those too. They do break down the food scraps more quickly. It did the job but the resulting compost was not the same and still resembled food so much that our dogs would eat it. There was an odor that wasn’t terrible but the machine ended up being moved to the garage. Also our $500 machine broke shortly after a year. Costing us more and contributing to e-waste.

Is commercial composting better than home composting?

That is complicated. However in general commercial composting is more efficient and can compost more diverse materials. Commercial facilities break down food into compost much more quickly and the final product is inspected by third party labs to insure quality and lack of contaminants.

Why do you plant trees for your customers each month?

Who doesn’t love the idea of planting more trees to help our planet. This reminds us of the Chinese Proverb - ‘The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.’
